Coeli Circulus America Small Cap invests in the world’s largest purchase order. Consumers, businesses, and governments demand solutions to solve the sustainability challenges of the world, which drives a strong structural growth offering the opportunity for higher returns than ever before.
The fund focuses on North American micro- and small enterprises, where it is easier to work closely with the companies and build relationships. The fund management team provide advice and technical expertise on sustainability issues, setting clear demands and expectations on the companies. The portfolio consists of about 40 companies.
The fund is an actively managed equity fund that invests in the strongest structural theme of them all – solving the 17 sustainability challenges that are part of the 2030 Agenda, the global goals for sustainable development. The fund is classified as Article 9 according to the EU regulation on sustainability-related disclosures in the financial services sector (SFDR).

We have full focus on micro- and small companies where it is easier to build a relationship and work closely with the companies.
- We help companies grow by for example providing capital through directed equity issuances. For many smaller companies it is crucial to be able to scale up their production to make a real difference in society.
- We provide advice and technical expertise on sustainability issues and set clear demands on the companies.
To support this, we have had BlueMark – a leading independent verifier of impact mandates – review our investment process. We received a very good rating that confirms our approach and can be read in full here. The fund has also received the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
How do we find all these interesting companies?
A unique AI-tool helps the team identify companies in our universe who have the solutions to a sustainability challenge. Out of the approximately 15 000 companies that the team tracks in North America, the tool identifies about 1000 companies that are interesting to dig deeper into.
The next step is our fundamental analysis, focused on financial key figures. After screening out the most exciting prospects we travel to meet with the companies and gain our own view of the management and the products. Meeting companies out in the field instead of solely meeting them in conference rooms in big cities is a key part of understanding what they actually do. The end-result of this effort is a portfolio consisting of approximately 50 solution-oriented companies.

Christofer Halldin

Christofer has been managing Coeli Circulus since its inception in August 2022. Prior to this, he worked as the head of active equity and fixed income management at Handelsbanken Fonder. There, he was instrumental in developing Handelsbanken Fonder into one of Sweden’s most successful equity and fixed income managers during the late 2010s. Handelsbanken Fonder had the largest net inflows on the Swedish fund market for several consecutive years during that time. Additionally, Handelsbanken Fonder was named both the Fund Manager of the Year and the Sustainable Fund Manager of the Year by various actors, including Prospera, Privata Affärer, Söderberg & Partner, and Länsförsäkringar. Prior to being appointed head of active management, Christofer managed various global mandates for several years. He also worked as a fund manager in the United States for seven years, from 2007 to 2013, managing both the America, Brazil, and Latin America funds at Handelsbanken Fonder.

Joakim has been managing Coeli Circulus since its inception in August 2022. Prior to this, he worked as a fund manager for Amerika Småbolag Tema at Handelsbanken Fonder. He managed America Small Caps from 2015 and won several awards for the fund’s good returns, which also grew significantly during his tenure as fund manager. When Joakim left the fund in early 2022, it had over SEK 20 billion in assets under management. Before managing Amerika Småbolag Tema, he was responsible for managing the broader fund Amerika Tema from 2013-2017 and the global fund Global Tema from 2009-2013 at Handelsbanken Fonder.

Simon has been managing Coeli Circulus since its inception in August 2022. Prior to this, he worked as a sustainability analyst at Handelsbanken Fonder. Between 2018 and 2022, he contributed to the development of the fund company’s sustainability efforts, with responsibility for increasing measurability to create value in the investment process. In 2021, Simon was named one of “33 under 33: Shaping the Future of Sustainability” by Aktuell Hållbarhet. He also has experience from programs at some of the leading institutions globally in the sustainability field, such as circular economy with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and climate science at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford.
